I wonder if America knows just how closely the rest of the world is following this election – all the names, all the minutia and twists and turns, we’re discussing it like it’s our election. This is a sweeping generalisation, but dare I say there couldn’t be very many Americans who could tell you who they would vote for in elections in other countries. But right now masses of non-Americans are casting imaginary votes for Barack Obama in their heads and hearts.
